갤러리 전 개관 22주년 기념전으로 선보이는 강애자 초대전 < Points of Emergence > 는 균열과 생성, 침묵과 울림의 순간을 통해 존재의 본질을 탐색하는 자리이다. 강애자 작가는 현재 미국 LA에서 활동하는 재미작가로 한국적인 여백의 미감 위에 현대적인 재료실험과 Cracking 기법을 결합하여 독창적인 회화세계를 구축해 왔다. 화면 위에 형성된 균열은 파괴의 흔적이 아니라 오히려 내부에 잠재되어 있던 감각과 에너지가 드러나는 ‘생성의 지점’이다.
 
무언가를 설명하기보다, 조용히 감각하게 한다. 화면 앞에 선 순간 우리는 균열 사이로 스며드는 빛과 흔적, 그리고 아직 드러나지 않은 존재의 기척을 마주하게 된다.

이번 전시는 보이지 않던 것들이 천천히 모습을 드러내는 순간들을 통해 깊은 사유와 잔잔한 울림의 시간을 선사할 것이다. 갤러리 전 A, B관에서 Contemplation 시리즈 30여 점을 선보인다.

Presented to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of Gallery Jeon, Kang Ehja’s solo exhibition *Points of Emergence* is a space that explores the essence of existence through moments of rupture and creation, silence and resonance. Kang Ehja is a Korean-American artist currently active in Los Angeles, USA, who has built a unique world of painting by combining modern material experimentation and cracking techniques with the Korean aesthetic of negative space. The cracks formed on the canvas are not traces of destruction, but rather ‘Points of Emergence’ where sensations and energies latent within are revealed.

 Her work encourages quiet sensory perception rather than explanation. The moment we stand before the canvas, we encounter light and traces seeping through cracks, as well as the presence of an as-yet-undisclosed existence.

 This exhibition will offer a time of deep contemplation and gentle resonance through moments when the unseen slowly reveal themselves. Approximately 30 works from the Contemplation series will be presented in Gallery Jeon A and B.
